BFOI Round 1

The buxom blonde was as tall as Magnus himself, and not even because of heels or platforms. She walked with a casual grace and wore a light-hearted smile that drew the eyes of many passersby, but Magnus was busy looking at the man on her arm. That guy had to lift. Suddenly the pair turned towards Magnus and caught him staring. He recovered with a grin and a sly wink.

"Hey babe," called Magnus. "Heading my way?"

The man's face darkened like a thundercloud. "Hey, this lovely lady is spoken for."

Magnus stood, shrugging. "So what if she is? It was just a simple question."

A few people stopped to look at the two meatheads, who were now glaring at each other. "You better step off, bro," said the man, balling his hands into fists. Magnus did the same. The woman just stood there with her arms akimbo, smirking between the pair of them, like she'd been through this before.

"Fight!" someone called. Magnus looked out into the gathering crowd and suddenly grinned.

"Come at me, bro!"



The fight had been pretty close, but Bradey's Sandslash was just too fast for Halberd to stop. After the Steelix was trapped underground during a devastating earthquake attack, Magnus conceded, not wanting the Steel-type to be too badly injured before the real matches even started! He had to admit, the frat boy knew his way around Pokemon. After muttering an apology, Magnus sulked off into the sunset.

There were gorgeous beaches a-plenty on Ohana, and it was high time Magnus started enjoying them. But he couldn't get into it, and wound up instead just moping deep into the night while he let his Pokemon out to train. They allowed him some time to pout, but it didn't take long for Domine to grow fed up with it and punch some sense into her trainer. So what if he lost! But something else was clearly bothering Magnus, something above and beyond just the match...



His Pokemon only gave him a night to mope, so in the morning Magnus decided to take his mind off the defeat by taking a stroll through Mahalo Sanctuary. At first the bright sunlight and buzzing insects just made him grumpier, but a few steps into the cool shadows of the forest, things started turning around.

A slender woman in a white dress was playing with a white Espeon. "I've never seen an Espeon that color," Magnus said, crouching down and beckoning to the Pokemon. She bounded over to him, allowing him to stroke the silky fur behind her ears. "She's adorable!"

The woman laughed softly. "She's just albino! Her name is Yuki."

"I have a Jolteon... his name is Renegade." Magnus fumbled for a Pokeball and called out the Electric-type. First he sniffed the Espeon, and then he jumped up on Carina, sniffing at her as well. "Renegade, no!" Magnus groaned, but the woman shook her head with another laugh.

"Don't worry about it! Hey... my name is Carina, what's yours?"

Magnus smiled. "Magnus."
